IMP CAES M OPEL SEV MACRINVS AVG P M T P P P Laureate and cuirassed bust of Macrinus to right, slight drapery on left shoulder. Rev. FID•EXERCIT / S - C Macrinus, on the right, standing left on platform, holding long scepter with his left hand and addressing three soldiers standing before him, each holding an aquila. Klawans 2 (same dies, but as a later cast only). Very rare. A splendid example with a wonderful brown patina. Extremely fine.


Klawans, unable to find a struck original of this type, only included the late aftercast from the Bibliothèque Nationale in his publication.
